Downers Grove Choral Society to present ‘The Crucifixion’
On Sunday, Feb. 18, the Downers Grove Choral Society will host its winter concert at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Ave. in Downers Grove.
They will be performing “The Crucifixion: A Meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer,” an oratorio by 19th-century English composer John Stainer; “Stabat Mater” by 19th-century Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi; and other works.
The choir will be joined with local musicians and they will be showcasing soloist talent from within the choir.
General admission tickets are $25; $20 for seniors, age 60 or older; or $15 for age 13 or older. Tickets are available at dgcs.org/tickets or at the door the day of the concert.
A pre-concert discussion will be held at 3:15 p.m.

The Downers Grove Choral Society welcomes new singers. Choir members have a wide range of musical experience, from high school and university choral programs to church choirs to professional engagements.
