Ueberroth: Chicago has work to do on Olympic bid
The head of the U.S. Olympic Committee doesn't sugarcoat when assessing where Chicago ranks in the contest to host the 2016 Summer Games.
USOC Chairman Peter Ueberroth says it's "not anywhere near first."
Last year, Ueberroth said he thought Chicago was third or fourth in the running for the games and needed to work hard to sell itself to International Olympic Committee members.
On Tuesday, he said Chicago is gaining expertise in how to make a successful Olympic bid, but it still has a ways to go.
Ueberroth wouldn't say where he thinks the city ranks among the seven contenders vying to be host city.
The International Olympic Committee will whittle the list of seven to an undetermined number of finalists in June.
