A number of students from the Fox Valley area were named to the Valpariaso University dean's list in recognition of the academic accomplishments during the fall semester. To be eligible for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.50 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and be enrolled full time.

Valparaiso University is a university with a Lutheran heritage that enrolls nearly 4,000 students on its campus 55 miles southeast of Chicago.

Batavia: Kimberly Norberg, sophomore nursing major; and Jonathon Rudy, sophomore church music major.

Geneva: James Gregait, senior marketing major; and Kelly Erikson, junior social work and psychology major;

Maple Park: Andrew Brock, freshman psychology major.

North Aurora: Michelle Moreno, junior management major; and McKenzie Kelly, freshman nursing major.

St. Charles: Maddi Smith, junior French and secondary education major; Rebecca Crocker, senior mechanical engineering and humanities major; Maximilian Payleitner, senior physical education and secondary education major; Claire Van Acker, freshman biology major; and Chase Szorc, freshman theater major.

• Elise Carpenter of Batavia has been named to the Fall 2007 Dean's List at the University of Tulsa. Elise is a junior petroleum engineering major. Her parents are Jean and Alan Carpenter.

• Stephen C. Starzyk of Batavia received his bachelor's degree in art and design, graduating cum laude, from Northern Michigan University in December.
