Not guilty plea in WGN anchor's death
A Wisconsin judge has entered a not guilty plea for the driver of a snowmobile that crashed into a tree and killed a Chicago television journalist who was a passenger. Vilas County court officials say 44-year-old Scott Hirschey of Crystal Lake didn't answer on Thursday when asked to enter a plea to one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. The judge then entered a plea of not guilty for him. No trial date has been set. Hirschey is accused of killing 45-year-old Randy Salerno on January 24th when Hirschey's snowmobile missed the entrance to a trail off Plum Lake near Eagle Creek, Wis., and crashed. Salerno joined CBS' WBBM-TV station in 2004 after 11 years as an anchor and reporter at WGN-TV.
