Remember Illinois' fallen soldiers

Today, I had the honor of attending the special unveiling of the Portrait of a Soldier memorial exhibition at the Schaumburg Township District Library hosted by Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn.

This is a traveling exhibit, consisting of a series of hand-drawn portraits of more than 180 Illinois' brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country since September 2001.

While at this traveling exhibit, I had the opportunity to listen to and hear the stories local families shared about their children who have died while serving our country.

This was truly a moving experience and a constant reminder we must never forget to honor those who have served our country.

If you have a spare moment, please consider visiting this very moving exhibit, as it will only be on display until Thursday.

If you have an interest in veterans' issues, I also encourage you to join my Veterans' Issues Advisory Committee. This group meets periodically to discuss topics like veterans' health care, employment, and benefits.
