Briefs: Shred documents today

East Dundee will host a shredding event 7 to 11 a.m. today at Third Street and Railroad, next to the fire station. The event is free for East Dundee residents and $1 for nonresidents. Village staff will be on hand to help destroy confidential documents such as credit card applications, which are often targets for identity thieves. Material must be in a cardboard box or plastic grocery bag. Staples and paper clips can be left in, but items larger than a paper clip must be removed. Household garbage, electronics or computer equipment, yard waste and construction debris is not permitted.

Gilberts blood drive today

Gilberts Elementary School and the Gilberts' Community Emergency Response Team are sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the school, 729 Paperbark Lane. Sixteen-year-olds can donate blood with parental permission. Call (708) 308-0970 or visit www.gilbertsilcert.org.

Decoy collectors' show

The National Antique Decoy and Sporting Collectibles Show continues from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles. Among the items on display will be antique Canadian decoys. There also will be seminars for beginning and longtime collectors. Admission is $5 and free for children and members of the Midwest Decoy Collectors Association. Judson choir concert
