Computer glitch hits Pace

Pace officials apologized Thursday for problems with the computer reservation system used by disabled riders in Chicago. Because of high-call volumes, people are having difficulty making reservations and some scheduled rides were lost in the computer system. Pace Executive Director T.J. Ross said the reservation system crashed, but the staff is working to correct the failure. "Computerizing the dispatch system was intended to be an improvement for passengers in that they could reserve trips more quickly and easily than before," Ross said in a statement. "Unfortunately, it has created more problems than it has solved."
