Cook County Jail inmate escapes on hospital visit

Authorities in Chicago are looking for a Cook County Jail inmate who escaped during a hospital visit.

Authorities say Kirk Davis overpowered a guard at Stroger Hospital on Chicago's West Side. He then ran outside and got into a vehicle that was apparently waiting for him.

Davis was in jail on an aggravated battery charge.

Authorities say Davis was being treated for a leg injury. He arrived at the hospital using crutches and in shackles. But the shackles were removed at some point before his escape.

Authorities say they don't know if Davis is armed. But they say he's presumed dangerous.
