Why no effort to save cougar?

I would like to comment on the killing of the cougar in Chicago. I am very surprised that no one has said anything about it. I would have thought that some animal group would have had something to say. I think the police should have tried to contact Lincoln Park Zoo or animal control to try and capture it alive and relocate it to one of the zoos. From what I have heard and read, they made no effort to do that. I have never written to a newspaper before, and don't know why I am doing so now. I just think the Chicago police handled this poorly, and I am upset that they didn't try.
