Red Cross to hold CPR, defibrillation classes

The Fox River chapter of the American Red Cross will be offering CPR/Automated External Defibrillation classes for the professional rescuer each month from May through August.

"This Red Cross class meets the requirements for health-care professionals and American Red Cross lifeguards who need to renew their CPR certification," said Ron Clayton, the chapter's health and safety manager.

According to Clayton, this particular class is also an excellent training option for non health-care professionals who wish to be prepared to respond in any situation calling for CPR, whether the emergency involves adults, children or infants.

"It's important to emphasize that the classes also include AED training for use on adults and children, as well."

All classes will be held two consecutive weeknights, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the chapter offices, 121 N. Second St., St. Charles.

The schedule is April 15-16, May 14-15, June 17-18, July 15-16 and August 13-14. The cost for the class is $62.

Advance registration is required and can be made by calling the chapter offices at (630) 443-8844. Payment can be made over the phone with a credit card.
