Seals will fight for middle class

Every February, I set aside an entire day to do our taxes for my family. Like most middle class families, we are finding it hard to save for a college education for them, and our tax return money provides a large chunk of our savings.

Two years ago, I sat down and worked my way through our return using tax software. After being told we would receive a tax return of a few thousand dollars, which we would invest in our daughters' college fund, this return was almost completely wiped out after the software checked to see if we would be hit by the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), which we were.

Over the past seven years, I've watched the wealthiest Americans receive huge tax cuts from the Bush administration and Republicans in Congress, while families like mine have been hit by the AMT. I believe it's time we elect representatives who will fight to make our tax code fairer for all of our middle class families.

That is why I will be voting for Dan Seals in November. Dan has three young daughters and he understands the struggles of families to pay for expenses and health care, while saving up for college.

He supports abolishing the alternative minimum tax so that no more middle class families find more of their hard earned money taken away by the government. He also wants to simplify the tax system so that it is fairer and easier to understand. I know that Dan will fight for the change we need on taxes and make sure our tax code works for families like mine, not just the wealthiest Americans.
