Guilty plea in '06 Champaign killings
A 35-year-old man has pleaded guilty to his role in the murders of a Champaign husband and wife two years ago.
Kenneth Sean Kelly pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder for the July 2006 death of 58-year-old Jeremiah Haigh.
Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar agreed to recommend no more than 50 years in prison for Kelly when he's sentenced in September. Lozar also agreed to dismiss other charges alleging Kelly also murdered 66-year-old Sue Haigh.
Autopsies found Jeremiah Haigh was stabbed to death and Sue Haigh died from several blows to the head.
Thirty-one-year-old Crystal Myrick is also charged in the murders. She's serving a 10-year prison sentence for an unrelated arson.
