Robber hits bank in Glen Ellyn

Add a LaSalle Bank branch near Glen Ellyn to the growing list of financial institutions that have been robbed in DuPage County in recent months.

FBI officials reported that a single robber entered the bank near Butterfield Road and Route 53 about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The robber brandished a black and metallic handgun and threatened to harm a teller if his demands were not met. The teller then gave the man an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured in the robbery. No shots were fired.

The robber was last seen in the parking lot of the bank.

On Thursday, FBI officials said they were reviewing video footage of the incident.

Authorities described the suspect as being between 45 and 55 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and having a thin build. On Wednesday, the man was wearing a black hat, orange T-shirt and black shoulder bag.
