Equal funding isn't solution for schools
The ever-popular, unending discussion about inequality of funding among school districts has a life of its own.
State Sen. Meeks suggested Chicago students en masse should attempt to enroll at New Trier High School.
Well, of course, why not? Can never have too much of political grandstanding.
School districts which have fewer dollars per student than other districts will always be pleased to point this out to anyone who will listen. Isn't it in the Constitution or the Bible or somewhere that academic achievement is directly proportional to degree of funding?
All right, let's have every student in Illinois receive exactly equal funding,
Then the performance of students with excellent grades will immediately decline, while those students with poor grades will begin to excel. Right.
