ACC/Big Ten hoops challenge dates set

Matchups for the 10th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge for conference supremacy in men's college basketball will be highlighted by North Carolina vs. Michigan State at Ford Field in Detroit, site of the 2009 Final Four.

This year's schedule will also include defending Big Ten champion Wisconsin at Virginia Tech, Duke at Purdue and four other first-ever Challenge showdowns.

Illinois will play Clemson for the first time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at the Assembly Hall on Dec. 2.

For the fourth consecutive year, the event will feature 11 games. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise nine games, with two other games on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.

The conference challenge will be played on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after Thanksgiving (Dec. 1-3). The ACC has won the Commissioner's Cup trophy the previous nine years.

Here is the schedule, with times and networks to be determined later:

Dec. 2: Ohio State at Miami

Dec. 2: Virginia at Minnesota

Dec. 2: Iowa at Boston College

Dec. 3: North Carolina vs. Michigan State at from Ford Field in Detroit

Dec. 3: Indiana at Wake Forest

Dec. 3: Michigan at Maryland

Dec. 3: Florida State at Northwestern

Dec. 3: Penn State at Georgia Tech
