Storied Lincoln a frequent loser, too

Much has been written about the fact that Jim Oberweis has failed at all attempts to win elective office.

But, consider the following: In 1832, he lost his job, being defeated for state legislature. In 1833, he failed in business. In 1835, his sweetheart died. In 1836, he had a nervous breakdown. In 1838, he was defeated for Speaker. In 1843, he was defeated for nomination to Congress.

In 1848, he lost re-nomination for Congress. In 1849, he was rejected as land officer. In 1854, he was defeated for U.S. Senate. In 1856, he was defeated for nomination as vice president. In 1858, he was again defeated for U. S. Senate.

In 1860, he was elected president of the United States of America. Most every schoolboy or schoolgirl in the U. S. and the free world should recognize that I am talking about President Abraham Lincoln, recognized as one of the two greatest U. S. presidents ever.

Let us not be discouraged. Let us get behind Jim Oberweis with all our resources -- time, talent and money and elect him to be our representative in the 14th U.S. House District this November.

We cannot afford a tax-and-spend liberal like his opponent to represent our best interests in Washington.
