Transit, water money went elsewhere?
To the "Transit backers seeking money" mentioned in Joseph Ryan's March 26 article and the Kane-DuPage Soil & Water Conservation District mentioned in Josh Stockinger's article the same day, just a piece of information.
A couple of pages further into the paper that same day was a postage stamp-sized story, titled "State overpaid grants."
In it, the Illinois auditor general said "the state Public Health Department overpaid seven grants for stem-cell research by $863,000."
And that "more than half of the grants given by the Blagojevich administration were for more than originally agreed."
And, of course, "officials have no documentation explaining the overpayment." Add this to the million that was given to a South Side school, by mistake, a school formerly housed in a church which burned down, and you will find the $1.8 million dollars that was probably yours.
Good luck trying to get it from King Blagojevich. And, our current governor is not impeachable. Why? I guess we'll have to wait for the feds to follow the money to take care of him.
