Paul Vallas looking at gubernatorial race

Former Chicago Schools CEO Paul Vallas says he is frustrated about opportunities Gov. Rod Blagojevich has missed, and is open to running again for governor.

Vallas was in Chicago on Monday to talk about his work as head of the New Orleans public schools. However, during a speech before the City Club he got in a couple of digs at Blagojevich, who defeated him in the Democratic primary in 2002.

Vallas said that while some people have been dodging indictments in Illinois, he has been running school districts. Vallas also headed the Philadelphia public school system after his unsuccessful gubernatorial run.

Vallas said that with Democrats holding the governor's seat and majorities in both legislative chambers, things should have gotten done. He added a lot of opportunities have been squandered.
