One dead in Lindenhurst crash

A Racine man died Tuesday after a two-car accident in Lindenhurst.

Frank A. Crandall, 49, was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The accident occurred about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on Grand Avenue at Hawthorne Drive.

Crandall was headed east in a 1999 Ford Contour and struck a 2007 Ford Explorer that was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Hawthorne Drive, Lindenhurst police said.

Two people in the Explorer were taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. No other information was available about them.

Crandall, the only occupant of the Contour, was flown by emergency helicopter to the Park Ridge hospital but could not be saved.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday, but results were not available at the Cook County medical examiner's office.
