Peoria couple indicted on murder charges in baby son's death

PEORIA -- A mother and father from Peoria face murder charges after they were indicted by a grand jury ruled for neglecting their five-month-old son who died from starvation.

The couple were indicted Tuesday by the Peoria County grand jury. They face two counts of first-degree murder in their son's death.

The couple, 21-year-old Tracy D. Hermann and 23-year-old James E. Sargent, are expected to enter pleas on Thursday during their arraignment. A trial date also may be set at that time.

The couple are held without bond at Peoria County Jail, where they have been since their February 20th arrest.
