50 animals die in McHenry County petting zoo fire

More than 50 piglets, lambs, baby goats and chickens died in a morning fire at a petting zoo in the northwest suburbs.

The animals belonged to the mobile petting zoo called A Zoo to You. They were being kept inside a McHenry County barn when the blaze occurred just before 7 a.m.

Authorities say the fire is under investigation, but doesn't appear to be criminal or suspicious.

A Zoo To You was founded in 2000 and provides pony rides and other services for carnivals, festivals and other special events.
