Briefs: MCC raises tuition

McHenry County College has raised its tuition by $4 per credit hour. Under the new rates, classroom courses now $73 a credit hour will be $77. And online classes that now cost $88 per credit hour will be $92. These prices do not include a $9 technology fee. The increases take effect this summer.

Library hosts Irish music

If you are looking for a way to start your St. Patrick's Day celebrations a little early, join the Dundee Township Library at 2 p.m. Saturday when the Academy of Irish Music will present a program of traditional Irish music. ECC names adult ed boss

Pam Brekke was recently named director of adult basic and secondary education at Elgin Community College. Brekke has worked as an adult basic and secondary education supervisor since 2006 and taught in the department as an adjunct instructor since 2002. Prior to her position at ECC, Brekke was a member of the technical staff at Lucent Technologies. Brekke holds a master of science in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
