St. Patrick's Day concert
Glenbard South High School choral students will take the stage tonight for a concert in the school auditorium, 23W200 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. with an Irish blessing in the theme of the St. Patrick's Day celebration. The concert will feature music from Beethoven as well as new pieces by current composers. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
Main Street work to begin
Preparatory work is expected to begin today for the widening and resurfacing of Main Street in Lombard. ComEd is scheduled to start relocating the power poles along the west side of Main. That will make room for the street widening and installation of a new traffic signal to improve traffic flow and safety at Glenbard East High School. Main Street will be widened and resurfaced from Roosevelt Road to Wilson Avenue. Work also will include installation of a new water main and drainage improvements and a new signal at the entrance to the high school's south parking lot. The project is expected to begin in May and last throughout the summer.
Update on road project
An informational meeting about the third phase of Lombard's Olde Town East road construction project is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. Village staff along with the project's designer, Civiltech Engineering of Itasca, will present information about the proposed improvements, which include road reconstruction, new sewers and street lights. Residents will be told what to expect during construction. The roads within the project boundaries are Charlotte Street, from Grove Street to north of Windsor Avenue; Grove Street, from Charlotte to Garfield Street; and Garfield, from St. Charles Road to Windsor.
