Newspaper adviser inspired her students
What a shame for our students to lose Linda Kane as Naperville Central High School's student newspaper adviser. They truly are the "biggest losers" in this controversy.
How many teachers truly put the students first, to be trusted with their ideas and presentations of those ideas, to motivate them with real-life assignments? No wonder that paper has won top national awards time and time again.
When education is on the front burner in this year's elections, we should celebrate a teacher/newspaper sponsor like Mrs. Kane. She doesn't head out the door first; she doesn't go through the motions. She is invested in those students' journalism education. She is wonderfully tough and thorough.
My son learned more about grammar being on her staff than he did in many regular English classes. He now writes professionally for a living, and he is (and so are we, his parents) so glad he had Mrs. Kane to help prepare him for his future.
Thank you, Mrs. Linda Kane. We support you.
