Police searching for suspect in Chicago student's shooting death

One Chicago Public Schools student has been shot dead and another was beaten with a golf club near a high school on the city's West Side.

A puddle of blood marked the site of the golf club attack on Crane Tech High School's steps.

The violence broke out after classes ended on Friday. Chicago police say Crane student 18-year-old Ruben Ivy was killed about a block away from the school building.

A second student was beaten with a golf club near the school steps. He was taken to a nearby hospital in good condition.

Police say they're looking for a suspect in the crimes and believe they are gang-related. Chicago Public Schools officials say Ivy is the 16th student shot to death this school year.
