Barber of Seville: The library offers the Chicago Lyric Opera Lecture Series on the "Barber of Seville" at 2 p.m. March 15 at the library.
This program relates the stories behind the operas being presented this season. Saturday's discussion focuses on the story of the Barber of Seville and includes musical highlights.

West Side Storytime: West Side Storytime will be presented for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. March 18. This free storytime will be held at the West Dundee Public Safety Center II, located at the intersection of Route 72 and Sleepy Hollow Road. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. No registration is necessary for this fun preschool program which will include stories, songs, fingerplays and activities.
Baby Play Group: This is an opportunity for parents to socialize with other parents while their little ones play under supervision. It will be hosted from 10 to 11 a.m. April 7 at the library.
This is not a formal program, simply drop in and find toys to play with, board books to read, puppet friends and fun activities.
It is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary. Baby Play Group will be held in the library's meeting room.
Spanish Storytimes: Gilberts resident Larissa DeSmet will again lead her popular Spanish Storytimes at 7 p.m. March 27. Children of all ages and their families will enjoy a half-hour of stories, fingerplays and songs. No registration is required for these free programs. AARP tax help: The AARP Tax-Aide program continues on Thursdays, through April 10 at the library. The program provides free tax preparation and assistance services to seniors as well as low- and middle-income taxpayers. Volunteer counselors will be available to complete basic income tax forms and answer your tax questions. Appointments are required. Call (847) 428-3661, ext. 308. Tax forms are also available at the Information Desk.
Arthritis screening: The Dundee Township Public Library offers free arthritis screening from 4 to 7 p.m. April 1 at the library. Dr. Daniel Kuesis, a hip and knee specialist, will be available for arthritis, hip or knee pain screening. Participants should wear shorts or T-shirt depending on problem area.
