Trailer country

Chicago Filmmakers is hosting a monthly film series hosted by cartoonist and notorious country music record and novelty collector Heather McAdams. The inaugural night, at 8 p.m. April 5, will feature B-movie trailers and other vintage delights from her collection of 16 mm films. On May 3 she'll screen snippets from such veteran television shows as "Ranch Party" and "The Country Show and Country Caravan," featuring performances from Johnny Cash, Wanda Jackson, George Jones, Bob Wills and more. Musicians at work

The April edition of the Musicians at Work forum is at 7:30 p.m. April 7 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., Chicago. This month's topic is "Bands and Venues: Make It Work," which discusses how to prepare for a live show once it's booked, where to load in, promotion tips and more. Guest panelists are Justin Baren of The Redwalls, Jessica Glau of Satellite Booking and band manager Mary Jones. It's free. Visit chicago-music.org or more details.
