NIMBYs rule the day, unfortunately

Having lived in Palatine for almost 40 years, I have seen numerous NIMBY (not in my backyard) campaigns. The senior issue is the extension of Route 53 into Lake County. The latest issue is the sale of the EJ&E railroad.

Both projects improve the lives of many while inconveniencing the lives of few. Unfortunately, those vocal few have the time and resources to delay or abort projects that greatly benefit the overall community.
