Man sentenced to 59 years for torturing wife

PEORIA -- A Peoria County judge says a man who tortured his wife over a two-week period in 2006 will have to spend at least 43 years in prison -- substantially a life sentence for the 54-year defendant.

In handing down the maximum 59-year prison term on Friday, Circuit Judge James Shadid said society would no longer have to worry about Clyde "Cat Daddy" Bradley.

Shadid said Bradley's 45-year sentence for heinous battery and 14-year sentence for aggravated domestic battery will be served consecutively, meaning he will have to serve at least 43 years.

Bradley reportedly beat his wife with a stick, poured boiling water down her pants, threw more boiling water on her, stabbed her repeatedly in the face with a pen and burned her eyelids with a cigarette lighter.
