Batavia

• A woman reported that her purse was stolen while she was putting items into her car at a business on the 500 block of North Randall Road at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Kane County

• Sylvester K. Swopes, 19, of the 600 block of Howard Avenue in Aurora, was arrested near New York and Ohio streets in Aurora Township at 6 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana, failure to signal while turning, a missing rear bumper and rear taillight, no seat belt and no insurance. Swopes was driving a 1993 Ford Taurus. Swopes' companion Jordan Daniel Fann, age unknown, of the 700 block of Charles Street in Aurora, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and for aggravated assault of a police officer, according to a report by the Kane County sheriff's police.

• Jake Robert Stanley, 26, of Dean Street in St. Charles, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Saturday on Francis Road in Virgil Township for illegal possession of firearms. According to Kane County sheriff's police, Stanley was target shooting at propane cylinders in a field. Police confiscated two revolvers and two rifles that were not registered.
