Best Blinds franchise brings its mobile showroom to homes

Best Blinds, a growing window treatment company, is starting to cover this area.

Brothers Karl and Lawrence Mueller recently launched the first Best Blinds franchise in Illinois.

The brothers and a silent partner say they provide convenience and low prices primarily to residential customers.

The Mueller's operate the business from a mobile showroom offering a shop-at-home service. The franchise, based in Elgin, provides on-site sales and installation of blinds, draperies and shades.

The owners say their clients are able to see how the samples and colors look in their homes. The service includes a free consultation, measuring, estimates and installation.

Best Blinds has formulated vendor relationships over the years to pass on competitive prices to their clients, according to the owners.

Karl said they're able to offer competitive pricing on a vast selection of styles and colors. Hunter Douglas, Comfortex, Prestige and Vista Products are some of the lines they carry.

Karl, 44, said they mainly cover the Fox Valley and surrounding areas. The brothers grew up in Hoffman Estates and worked for a different window treatment company before launching their own.

Best Blinds is based in Raleigh, N.C. The company offers a life-time manufacturer's warranty.

The owners say they offer many multi-functional window treatments. Many of the new treatments are made of specialty wood, alloy materials and fabrics that are anti-static and repel dust.

They added that the draperies are getting longer. They say that the window treatments are placed just below the ceiling line, giving the room more height.

Landscape award: C.B. Conlin Landscapes in Naperville recently received its second consecutive Excellence in Landscape Gold Award from the Illinois Landscape Contractor Association.

Mike and Maureen Naset of Naperville own the home that earned the landscaper the award. The home's landscape featured natural bluestone patios and walks, decorative urns, natural limestone columns, walls and copings.
