East, Batavia also deserved notice

While it was nice to see an article with the headline St. Charles North claims 3 dance medals in the paper, it was a bit disheartening as well.

Those of us in the dance community and certainly those in the Kane County area who read this article appreciated the mention of the fact that more than 1,700 performers representing 91 teams competed at last weekend's state competition. What was unfortunate was that the writer failed to mention that of all the 91 teams that competed, the headlines noted that STCN claimed 3 dance medals…..and yet the other St. Charles high school in town, St. Charles East High School, was also a 3-medal winner, taking a second and 2 third place finishes. North and East were the only two schools in the state to place in three categories yet there was not one mention of East in the article anywhere.

I should also add that Batavia High School, yet another Kane County school represented at the state competition, took home one of the most prestigious honors at the state competition, winning the TDI Sportsmanship Award.
