Palatine OKs townhouse development along Northwest Hwy.
New townhouses are coming to Palatine along Northwest Highway.
Village councilmen Monday unanimously approved the 15-unit development at 496 W. Northwest Hwy., just east of the Palatine Animal Hospital.
Developer Aspen Glen LLC had proposed the units on slightly more than four acres -- two vacant wooded areas and part of the nearby animal hospital property.
Three five-unit buildings will be erected and the subdivision will be called Palatine Glen.
The same development proposal received approval in 2000, but the ownership has since changed.
In the past, some nearby residents have cited problems with turning on to Northwest Highway along with concerns about drainage.
Some of the water detention will discharge north into the Palatine Hills Golf Course.
Officials say the density of the project is similar to the Fontenay subdivision, off Northwest Highway and between Smith Street and Quentin Road.
Construction should begin midsummer. Prices will range from $375,000 to $400,000.
