Families

Families are invited to eat dinner and watch a movie at the United Methodist Church of Geneva at 5:30 p.m. today. The church is at 211 Hamilton St.

A chili dinner will be served and will be followed by the movie "Evan Almighty." The cost is $4 per adult, $2 per child and $12 maximum for a family. The event ends about 9 p.m.

• Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold a bread and soup luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30 at the Sugar Grove Community House on Main Street across from the church. The church is at 176 Main St.

The church will need 30 one-gallon pots of soup in electric crock pots. All types and varieties are welcome. Donations will be accepted for Mutual Ground, a women and children's shelter in Aurora.

Adults

The First Congregational Church of Geneva will be hosting a monthly Friday night movie series beginning March 28 and continuing into June.

The church is at Fourth and Hamilton streets, one block north of State Street and one block west of Third Street.

The series features movies with a social justice theme.

"For the Bible Tells Me So," a documentary challenging biblical interpretations on homosexuality, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. March 28.

"The Wall," a documentary offering a surprising perspective on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. April 25.

"An Inconvenient Truth," Nobel prize-winner Al Gore's documentary on global warming, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. May 23.

"Bowling for Columbine," a documentary by Michael Moore on guns, children, and school shootings, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. June 27.

Admission is free, and nursery care will be available. Popcorn and beverages will be served.

• Fox Valley Unity Church will be showing the movie "You Can Heal Your Life" at 7 p.m. Friday at 230 Webster St., Batavia.

The film depicts the life and work of Louise Hay and her views on self-esteem, abundance and the metaphysical causes behind physical ailments.

Through personal interviews, the film shows how Hay teaches us to look within and heal ourselves.

There is a suggested donation of $10. Tickets will not be sold in advance.

Women

Join the women of St. Peter Church in Geneva for a Spiritual Spa Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1891 Kaneville Road, in Geneva.

The day will feature a speaker, mind/body exercise sessions, health information and screenings and vendors.

Keynote speaker Mary Sherry will present "Hurry Up and Relax!" Sherry is the author of the books "The Spiritual Spa" and "Sometimes I Haven't Got a Prayer," as well as numerous articles in general and religious publications. Sherry's books will be available for purchase and signing.

Introductory classes in Yoga and NIA will be taught by Jeanne Penton and Sarah Totman.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing. Cost for the event is $25, or two for $40 when you register with a friend. Lunch will be served at noon for an additional $6.

Mothers

Joan Wester Anderson will present "Where Angels Walk" at a meeting of Mother's at the Well and Adult Formation from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, 6N491 Crane Road in St. Charles.

Anderson recounts stories of angelic intervention, garnered from the thousands of letters she has received and interviews she has conducted for her seven books, her radio show on Relevant Radio and her twice-monthly Internet column on angels, miracles and answers to prayers.

Anderson will be selling and signing her books.

• Mary Byer will present "The Mother Load: How to Meet your Own Needs While Caring for Your Family" at the March meetings of Moms Together, a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Geneva.

The meetings are from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday and March 20 at the west campus of First Baptist Church, 3534 Keslinger Road in Geneva.

Byers has appeared on radio and television. The mother of two children, she offers suggestions, spiritual truths and advice on how to create a balanced life.

The cost is $6 per mom, $8 for a mom with one child, and $10 for a mom with two or more children.
