Unity

Fox Valley Unity Church is offering the seminar "The Christ" from noon to 2 p.m. or from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Wednesday through April 9. The church is at 230 Webster St., Batavia.

Participants will examine the Christ idea. Questions include: What is it and where did it come from? What did "Christ" mean to the people of Jesus' time? How did the idea of Christ evolve during the time when the New Testament was being written? How can Christ empower believers today?

Donations will be accepted.

Hosanna! Lutheran Church is offering "Woman to Woman: Mother-Daughter Self Defense Workshop" from 9 to 11 a.m. March 8.

"Woman To Woman" was founded by Vicky Vandiver, mother of three and a 4th Degree Black Belt and Master Instructor at LaFox Family Fitness and Martial Arts Academy in Wasco.

The workshop offers insight and hands-on instruction regarding protection and self-defense skills for girls and women. It is open to females in seventh grade and older.

Assembly of God

Sanctuary of Batavia is offering the 10-week Alpha Course from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays beginning Thursday. The church is at 1S430 Wenmoth Road (a half block north of Main Street) in Batavia.

Participants will explore the Christian faith in an informal setting. Sessions include a meal, a presentation such as "Who is Jesus?" and a small group discussion.
