Snub of Foster was disappointing
As a longtime Daily Herald reader I was most disappointed with your endorsement of Jim Oberweis for Congressman when such an outstanding candidate and person, Bill Foster, was running.
I did not know Bill Foster before he became a candidate but a simple look at his resume and conversation with him and his staff made it clear he is impressive.
Unlike the Chicago Tribune, the Aurora Beacon News, the Courier, the DeKalb Daily Chronicle, the Kendall County Record/Oswego Ledger-Sentinel, and the Algonquin Countryside, you missed the boat in this election in our 14th Congressional District.
This district is comprised of voters who vote based on the individual, not the party.
Jim Oberweis is now a 4-time loser.
He was a 3-time loser when you endorsed him.
Despite the name recognition from the Oberweis ice cream stores and milk products, Jim Oberweis' negatives are well known.
Additionally, you missed the recognition that the district's population has exploded.
These individuals, along with the longtime district residents, are enlightened. How you missed recognizing the person in Bill Foster and the advantage of sending a fiscally responsible scientist to Congress with the changing demographics of the district is less than impressive.
Since I criticize your endorsement, I recognize the likelihood of printing my letter, however please consider your audience more carefully in future endorsements.
