2 accused of selling pirated DVDs in Elgin
Two men Monday were accused of selling pirated DVDs in Elgin, police said.
Robert D. Robbins, 22, homeless and Brett O. Fix, 23, of 200 S. Lincoln Ave., Carpentersville, were each charged with unlawful use of an unidentified audio/visual recording, police said.
Robbins also was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of 2.5 to 10 grams of marijuana, police said.
Fix and Robbins were arrested at 5:23 p.m. Monday in the lot of the Clock Tower Plaza, police said. They had a large stack of DVD movies in a car, police said.
When police arrested Robbins, they found a knife with a 4.5-inch blade in an unsnapped sheath in his belt and about 4 grams of marijuana in a sock, police said.
Both Robbins and Fix posted $500 bonds and were released from the Elgin lockup Tuesday morning.
Their next scheduled court date is March 19 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
