Failed bank robbery probed

Three men, including one armed with a handgun, have failed in an effort to rob a bank on Chicago's Northwest Side. Police said a man came into a LaSalle Bank branch, jumped over the counter, grabbed a teller and demanded money. But after two accomplices came into the bank and said someone was coming and they needed to leave, the men fled. Investigators said it remains unclear what prompted the men, who were wearing masks, to flee. Police said the bank and other nearby businesses have surveillance footage they will be reviewing. An FBI spokesman said the federal agency is also investigating the robbery attempt.
