Outdoor notes for March 6

It's no surprise that area angling is as good as it's been reported.

Fox Chain: Crappie action on the following lakes is excellent: Petite, Marie and Pistakee. Channel Lake bluegills have become very active on the far north end. Night anglers on Bluff Lake report excellent catches of channel catfish.

Lake Michigan, Wis.: Good catches of rainbow and brown trout from Racine and Milwaukee Harbors. Closer to home, ice fishing in the harbors continues with catches of a few perch. At Waukegan, some anglers have started using small, frozen smelt for their perch fishing.

Lake Zurich: Crappie and bluegills on the menu on the east side right on the weed edges.

Bangs Lake: The nighttime walleye bite has come alive in 8-10 feet of water. Ice is solid.

Lake Geneva, Wis.: Decent catches of crappie and perch in Fontana.
