Collegians

• Megan K Cardile of Geneva received the John McGill Memorial Scholarship and the William Chandler Bagley Scholarship given by the University of Illinois, College of Education. She received the awards at the annual student recognition banquet on Nov. 1 in Champaign. Cardile's parents are Ann and Rich Cardile of Geneva.

• Tyler Ross Browne of Batavia was named to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester at Northwestern University in Evanston. Browne is a 2005 graduate of Batavia High School. His parents are Kristi and Ross Browne.

• Linnea Dorothy Elliott of LaFox was named to the honors list for the fall 2007 quarter at Milwaukee School of Engineering. She is studying mechanical engineering.

• Michele Romero of St. Charles has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Illinois Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation.

Romero qualified for the scholarship through academic and civic accomplishments. They include serving as president of Aurora University's Latin American Student Organization. Active in Union Latina of St. Charles, she helped the group organize a Latino Festival for Hispanic Heritage month, taught English to adult Latino students in St. Charles, and provided childcare to children of parents enrolled in Monday English classes.

• Heather Anne Stout, a 2004 graduate of Batavia High School, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester at Flagler College, St Augustine, Florida. She is a senior majoring in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education. She is the daughter of Rick and Donna Stout of Batavia.

• Sarah J. Bombard, daughter of Dan and LuAnn Bombard and a 2007 graduate of Batavia High School, was named to the fall semester dean's list at Western Michigan University for achieving a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher. She has also been inducted into the national honors society Alpha Lambda Delta. Bombard is a freshman double-majoring in dance performance and interior design.

• Joshua E. Eassa of St. Charles has been named to the dean's list at Northwestern University in Evanston for the fall quarter of the 2007-08 academic year. He attained a 4.0 grade point average and is majoring in bio-medical engineering and research.

• Jennifer Upton of Batavia has been named to the dean's list at Loyola University of Chicago for the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.

• Sarah M Burker, Richard A Griggs and Deric W Cole, all of St. Charles, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester at Bradley University in Peoria. To be eligible for the Dean's List a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

• Barbara Homann of St. Charles was named to the Northern Michigan University fall 2007 dean's list with a grade-point average of 4.0.

• Misty Baumgartner and Mark Wills of Geneva, Stacey Beary of LaFox, Christine Schnier and Sarah Van Oss of St. Charles and Laurie Crowe, Claire Knoche, Stephen Starzyk and Margaret Ziffer of Batavia were named to the Northern Michigan University fall 2007 dean's list with a grade point average of 3.25-3.99.
