Van catches fire in Des Plaines

Des Plaines firefighters extinguished a van fire around 7 p.m. Wednesday near Northwest Highway and State Street, authorities said. Nobody was injured, but the incident held up traffic in the area for about half an hour. Authorities said that the fire ignited while the van was being driven. It appears that something broke under the van and caused a fuel line to rupture, officials said. The drive pulled the van over and called for assistance.
