Elgin organ series ends today
At noon today, the Jane Hampton Chipman Lenten series ends with the chancel choir and soloists performing "St. Matthew Passion" by Heinrich Schutz in the sanctuary of First Congregational United Church of Christ, 256 E. Elgin church hosts interfaith service
Second Baptist Church will host the Elgin Citywide Interfaith Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday in the church's multi-purpose facility, 1280 Summit St. in Elgin. The service is hosted by the African-American Christian Minister Alliance and the Pastor Prayer Group. There will be three guest speakers and music performances. Lions Club offers bingo Saturday
The South Elgin Lions Club will give the first 200 bingo players a free chance to win $25,000 on Saturday.
Doors open at 5 p.m. at the club, 500 Fulton St. in South Elgin. The bingo and raffle games start at 7 p.m. with an early bird game at 6:50 p.m.
The first 200 players will receive a free card for a chance to win $25,000 on March 22 during bingo. They offer hands-free computerized bingo play and two smoking breaks (a covered shelter is provided) during the evening. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
