Chicago police replaces 21 commanders

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis has replaced the commanders in 21 of the city's 25 districts. Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said new appointments also include Belmont Area Cmdr. Thomas Byrne to chief of detectives and former Internal Affairs Division head Debra Kirby to general counsel. The move continues a leadership shakeup Weis began last month shortly after taking over the department. Weis formerly led the FBI's Philadelphia office. He inherited a police department rocked by allegations of brutality and misconduct.
