'North Side Rapist' sentenced to 100 years in prison
A Cook County judge has sentenced a man dubbed the "North Side rapist" to 100 years in prison in the first of six rape cases against him.
Judge Dennis Porter sentenced 41-year-old Mario Villa on Friday after his conviction by a jury last month in the 2004 rape of a 23-year-old woman.
Authorities say DNA evidence linked Villa to the sexual assault, which reportedly occurred after he climbed through an unlocked window to get into the woman's Lincoln Park apartment.
The jury found Villa guilty of three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of home invasion.
