20th anniversary for local preschool

The Algonquin Preschool is celebrating 20 years of service to the children and families of Algonquin and surrounding communities. On Saturday, the school will be celebrating the occasion during a morning of fun for current families.

The school is at 109 Washington St., Algonquin.

All former students and their families are welcome to stop by between 9 a.m. and noon to visit the school, see old friends and enjoy a slice of birthday cake.

Bands to perform in joint concert

The Huntley High School Band and the Sun City Concert Band will present a joint concert at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Performing Arts Center at Huntley High School.

Featured in the concert will be the Huntley High School Bands under the direction of Andrew McKay playing selections including: "Centuria," "American Riversongs" and a medley of marches by John Philip Sousa.

The Sun City Concert Band, under the direction of Donna Bressler will perform "Victory at Sea," "A Festival Prelude" and "In the Mood."

The combined band numbers will feature "Hymn to the Fallen" by John Williams, "The First and Third Movements of "Suite in Eb" and "A Big Band Tribute."

Admission is free but donations will be accepted to help the Huntley High School Band raise funds to purchase new marching band hats and plumes for the 2008 season.
