Not about to walk away from burger
MESA, Ariz. -- Before Friday's game against the Giants, Cubs reliever Scott Eyre placed a McDonald's cheeseburger at the locker of Kosuke Fukudome.
After downing the burger, Fukudome went out and walked his first two times up before flying out.
"The cheeseburger tasted good," Fukudome said when asked if the fast food led to a good eye at the plate, something he has exhibited in both Cactus League games.
Fukudome lockers near pitcher Carlos Zambrano, who started Friday's game. When asked if Zambrano appeared "serious," Fukudome said, in English, "No."
Giants 8, Cubs 6
Cubs' record: 1-1
At the plate: Mike Fontenot had an RBI ground-rule double to deep left-center. Nonroster man Alex Cintron, who may make the team, singled twice and had 2 RBI. Kosuke Fukudome walked twice.
