Illinois handles Judson

Playing the inaugural baseball game on the school's brand-new FieldTurf, the University of Illinois defeated Judson University 15-5 in a nonconference affair in Champaign Monday afternoon.

The Illini (8-6) scored 11 earned runs against Judson starter Kyle Kobernus (0-3) to take a commanding 11-1 lead after 4 innings.

Shortstop Kevin Fischer was a bright spot for the Eagles with a 2-for-5 afternoon and center fielder Oscar DePablos went 3-for-5.

Brett Ehrlich (1-for-5) stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth for Judson, which dropped to 1-11 on the season.
