Spring Fling for seniors
The Wheeling Park District invites all those 55 years and older to the Senior Spring Fling from 11 a.m. to noon April 8 at the Community Recreation Center.
This event is offered free of charge to give the community an opportunity to sample two new half-hour senior fitness classes. "Senior Swing" combines the favorite music of older adults with fun moves to get the heart pumping. "Senior Strength, Stability and Stretch" utilizes hand weights and stretching movements to exercise muscles and improve balance and core strength.
The workouts are led by Senior Fitness Coaches Kathy Meier and Peggy Oddo. Both women are certified group exercise instructors, each with over 15 years of experience teaching fitness. They enjoy working with the senior population. Oddo is also a certified personal trainer.
After trying the classes at Spring Fling, guests can socialize over refreshments and have the opportunity to win fitness-themed raffles including personal training sessions, group fitness class punch cards, a one-month fitness center membership, lunch for two, T-shirts, and other prizes. Spring Fling is being offered free of charge.
The Wheeling Park District will offer Senior Swing from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and Senior Strength, Stability and Stretch from 11:20 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday starting April 10 at the Wheeling Park District Community Recreation Center.
