A better way to spend $40 million
I hear that the governor and the president of NIU want to tear down Cole Hall and then build a new building and make it a memorial building to the students who were killed.
All of a sudden our state has $40 million it doesn't know what to do with. Hasn't everyone down in Springfield been fighting over not having enough money for months?
I think that they should keep Cole Hall, and change it to Memorial Hall with the names of the students killed and wounded on it. Take the $40 million that the governor just found, give $500,000 to each family of a student killed and $200,000 to each family of a wounded student and take the rest of the money and divide it among the 27,000 or 25,000 students at NIU so they can pay for tuition and any of their bills to get though school.
I think that would be a great memorial to the students killed and wounded and help everyone at the school.
