Northwestern University leader to retire

Northwestern University President Henry Bienen will retire next year. The announcement was made by Patrick Ryan, the chairman of Northwestern's board of trustees. Bienen, 68, was elected as Northwestern's 15th president in 1994 and took office in January 1995. His retirement is effective Aug. 31 of next year.
